ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECT FOR NITROGEN AND PHOSPHORUS RATES IN WATER OF TALEGHAN RIVER DURING 2008-2009

Նկարագրություն: In this study we conducted an experiment on the water of Taleghan River which is used as drinking water for Metropolitan Tehran. Between August 2008 and July 2009, 12 samples were taken from 6 stations along the river monthly. We have evaluated nitrate, nitrite and orthophosphate rate as the main parameters in order to determine the introduction of wastewater in this river. Results show that there is no serious problem regarding the parameters checked in this study. So, the water can be used as drinking water without any serious problem.

Water Quality Assessment of Taleghan River
Life Sci J.

Նկարագրություն: There are several factors influencing the water quality based on its usage. The quality of drinking water is
of the vital concern for human health and life. An essential attempt has to be done to develop a water quality index
(WQI) corresponding with different conditions and characteristics of the relevant river or water body such as
geographical, hydrological, discharge rate and pollution sources. The index is not specifically focused on human
health or aquatic life regulations. However, a water index based on some very important parameters can determine a
simple indicator of water quality. In the present study, the Taleghan water quality has been evaluated by available
NSF water quality index. Subsequently, the nine present NSF parameters’ weights have been changed and modified
using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method as well as experts’ opinions in the field in a way to satisfy
local conditions. In the newly developed WQI, more weights are given to relation with these parameters it can be
said that the factors like dissolved oxygen (Do), fecal coliform (F.c) and biological oxygen demand (BOD) when
compared with NSF-WQI.

Նկարագրություն: In this study an experiment on water quality of Taleghan River between August 2008 and July
2010 was conducted. Twenty four samples from 6 stations along the river were taken monthly.
Parameters like temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, electrical conductivity, BOD5, COD, nitrate, nitrite,
ammonium and orthophosphate rates were considered in order to determine the water quality. Results
show that there is no serious problem regarding the parameters checked in this study. So, the water can
be used as drinking water for Tehran city without any serious problem.

Effects of Chemical Wastes on Drinking Water Quality, Case Study of Taleghan River, Iran

ICGTCS-2012

(2012)

Նկարագրություն: Taleghan water basin is located in north of Iran. The influence of chemical wastes on the quality of regional surface water has been taken in to consideration in this study. Accordingly, sampling was done from 6 local streams in the study area. In order to consider the effect of flow quantity on the amount of different parameters, sampling was done in four months (October 2008, January, April, and July in 2009). The concentrations of major anions and cations were determined. The chemical characteristics of water compositions on the basis of major ion concentrations were evaluated on a Schoeller and Piper diagram. Accordingly, the dominant type of water in these four months is considered to be Ca – HCO3 (calcium – bicarbonate type). Regarding Schoeller diagram, despite relatively high concentration of calcium, the current status of local surface water is acceptable for drinking purposes. By commencing chemical excavation with designed capacity in near future, the chemicals will come in to contact with air and water resulting in dissolution, especially in surface water which, in turn, increases the concentration of heavy metals in surface water. Considering consequent uses of this water including drinking, irrigation, industrial, etc. precautions must be taken in to consideration.

Evaluation of river water quality by Canadian water quality index, Case study of Taleghan River, Iran
Nabi Bidhendi Gh.
Nasrabadi, T.

scientific - research conference of iranian student in Armenia

(2012)

Նկարագրություն: Taleghan sub basin is located in 90 km northwest of Tehran and is one of the main sub basins of Sefid-Rood basin. Naturally more than twenty small and big rivers and their branches form the surface water in Talegan region and their joining to the main Talegan River construct one of the main branches of Shahrood River as well as the agricultural and drinking water for Tehran city and Qazvin’s plain lands. In order to evaluate the overall water quality of Taleghan River, Canadian water quality index is taken into consideration. Six sampling stations were selected along the rivster and composite sampling was performed. Parameters like BOD, major anions and cations, Ph, DO and turbidity were calculated. The overall water quality estimated to be marginal.
